JOSE MOURINHO has become the shock bookies' favorite to replace Sean Dyche as Everton boss.
The Special One has a good chance of moving to Merseyside with new owners. The Friedkin Group thought it was ready to dump Dyche as early as next week.
Dyche admitted ahead of the FA Cup third round tie against Peterborough United that TFG would not be doing their job if they did not consider the possibility of replacing him.
The Americans ARE doing this and ex-boss David Moyes is also set to return to the club and take it to their new Bramley – Moore Dock home next summer.
Mourinho's appointment can be seen as a spectacular coup – despite the fact that TFG billionaire owner Dan Friedin, also owner of Roma, fired him a year ago.
The Portuguese was also suspended twice by Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Inter Milan, but he described his dismissal by Friedkin as “the dismissal that hurt the most”.
He took over Fenerbache last summer but is at war with the Turkish authorities over the way the Turkish Super Lig is run.
Despite being so upset by the way Friedkin got rid of him, the 61-year-old would like a chance at another Premier League move.
Dyche, who has been in charge for almost two years, is said to have come to terms with the fact that his time at the club is coming to an end and fans are coming to terms with his style of football.
Everton take on Posh in what he calls a 'banana skin' encounter having won just three Prem games in 19, with the Toffees one point above the drop zone.

Dyche stated that TFG is in the process of identifying replacements for him: “That should be the case.
“If you are a company of this size and this club, succession planning should be part of their commitment. I have no problem with that at all.
“I think this should happen at every football club.
'That is of course part of the job. I'm sure it's part of what we would call normal business life.'
What is almost certain is that the former Burnley manager is on his way out.
And defeat to Darren Ferguson's League One club would only hasten his departure.
