Joshua Zirkzee wanted by Serie A duo amid uncertainty over his Man United future under manager Ruben Amorim

Joshua Zirkzee is attracting interest from Juventus and Napoli, but will fight for his future at Manchester United.

The Holland international started his career at Old Trafford after a £36.5million arrival from Bologna in the summer, with a bang by scoring on debut in a 1-0 win over Fulham on the opening day of the season.

Although he has continued to play regularly, the 23-year-old's season has since stagnated, culminating in his 33rd-minute substitution against Newcastle on Monday night.

Zirkzee's stock remains high in Italy, with Juve and Napoli reassessing their interest in the striker, amid Serie A sides' hopes that there is an opportunity to sign the forward due to uncertainty over his position in the plans by Reuben Amorim.

Both clubs were keen on Zirkzee this summer, who has scored four goals this season, but were beaten by United.

And Mail Sport has learned that both clubs are putting themselves in a position to strike for Zirkzee if it appears he could leave.

Zirkzee is believed to be aware of the interest but is fully focused on his season at United and has no desire to leave as he focuses on playing a role in taking the team up the ranks.

His first-half substitution against the Magpies came as a clear blow but has not dampened his determination to succeed.

United head coach Amorim, explaining his decision to replace Zirkzee in the 33rd minute, explained: 'Josh is a very good boy. We will support him and continue. It was very difficult for me to do that, but I talked to Josh because it was important to get the message across. We needed Josh to go out for the team.

'The player is suffering and I was there a few years ago. I felt that he and the team were suffering during the match and that we needed a new midfielder. I found it difficult to do that and I talked to Josh about it because it's important to get the message across.'

Monday's defeat left United with just 22 points halfway through the Premier League season.

The Red Devils are currently fourteenth in the table, thirteen points clear of the top four and just seven points clear of the relegation zone.
