Jude Bellingham on Arsenal clash – ‘We need to see something much better’

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has told the press that Comeback has been the most used word in the dressing room in recent days, because they are confronted with the second stage of their Champions League quart final who needed a comeback of three goals against Arsenal. Los Blancos has written many dramatic comebacks, but from three goals would be the first for them.

“Remontada (laughs). I have probably heard it a million times last week. This motivates us a lot. It was made a night for Real Madrid. I don't think we can add anything special to it.

The atmosphere at the Santiago Bernabeu is one of the most important factors that are cited in their European comebacks when other teams start to feel the pressure in the Spanish capital.

“There is always an incredible atmosphere in the Bernabeu; the energy is contagious. We can feel it; it brings out the best in us. We should not ask Real Madrid fans to do anything they have never done before.

Bellingham was also asked if there had been more arguments and moments of tension between the players this season than last year.

“It's football. It is normal that there are tense moments on the field, emotions run high. You clearly raise your voice more than you could with your mother or your father, we have a very different relationship. We have to be so sincere and honest with each other. You emphasize it more than you are in it, and we have not had enough of it.

The 21-year-old expressed his confidence in the team and the comeback, but was asked where that came from.

“We have to see something much better than what we saw in the first game. More dedication, more skill on the ball … There are many things. I don't think we have done our best, but we know we can do much better, and that is what we want to show tomorrow. Although we have played almost so much, it is funny, there were still times when we have the quality.”

He was also not surprised by Arsenal in the first stage.

“We have to trust that the players will give everything. There have been magical nights in the Bernabeu, and we believe that we can do it much better. We have to increase our focus level, and we can of course be there. We are not stupid, but we trust our capacities. Arsenal has not really surprised us.

According to Bellingham, they were convinced by the time that they were in the team bus last week after their defeat against Arsenal, that they could complete a historical comeback.

“It is an incredible atmosphere in the dressing room. The first stage was one of the worst results that we could have imagined, and now everyone thinks about the comeback. It means that you are at the best club in the world. There is also busy behind this; we know that we should get the best possible result.”

One of the frequent talk points in recent weeks is the amount that Real Madrid runs, with Arsenal covering much more land than Los Blancos in the first stage.

“It is true that if you walk more, you have more opportunities. Yes, this influences your game. But the same happened last year: we did not led the most and we have won the Champions League. We need to know what it means to run from one side to the other. We need to know how to run. We want to do a better plan tomorrow.”

Allegedly, Bellingham had a failure in training with Antonio Rudiger on Friday, which is why the motive behind him was asked about tension in the dressing room. Bellingham was reportedly also one of the players who spoke with the Real Madrid team in the dressing room after the loss, in Atemont to Rile Up the Side.
