Thomas Tuchel says that his mission is to build a team around Jude Bellingham that brings the best of one of the best players in England.
After being called the permanent successor to Gareth Southgate in October, Tuchel started the lead over the three lions with a world cup qualification winning against Albania on Friday evening.
The top scorer of England Harry Kane's 70th England of all time, supplemented the fine opener of Lewis-Skelly when the Arsenal-Jongere met a beautiful, defense-splitting Bellingham Pass with a smart finish.
Tuchel knows that Real Madrid's midfielder is “key” for the success of England, but believes that the 21-year-old was not always able to show his sparkle for the three lions.
“He is an important player for us and will be an important player,” said New England's head coach. “It is now our job to find the structure and the space to get the best of him.”
Bellingham was excellent in Tuchel's first game against Albania.
The pass to set up Lewis-Skelly for the opening goal was sublime and twice he himself was denied a goal because of good saves by Albania goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha.
Tuchel, however, is afraid that England can become too dependent on their talisman.
“He had a number of highlight moments, but sometimes it felt that he might be trying to do too much,” Tuchel added.
“I think he is always ready to give everything. I think we should help him within a structure that he can play more economically and still have the same impact, or perhaps even more impact.
“We have to ensure that the leaders, the most important players, walk the most important players in the same direction and play in the same rhythm and help each other, and perhaps play a little more disciplined, to save some energy for the decisive moments.”
'Bellingham an important player for England'
Tuchel has already told his players that they want them to be more honest and critical over each other, to increase the standards and to give England the extra lead that he thinks can help them win the World Cup in 2026.
Bellingham is one of, if not the most vocal players on the side of England, and Tuchel does not want to change that.
He even called on the rest of the team to be better communicators, both on and outside the field.
Bellingham was sent last month by referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero when Madrid 1-1 pulled with Osasuna. The referee said in his report that Bellingham had been sworn to him.
Tuchel is aware that Bellingham should be in control of his emotions, but he is adamant to lose none of the passion or wish of the 21-year-old to win.
“It seems that he is talking to his senior players, teammates, the referee … and coaches, I know for sure.
“Yes, the referee, he loves talking to the referee and the linesman. He is a very emotional player as soon as he is on the field and I think you just see that he has to lose hatred and he does everything it needs, and he expresses himself, and you only see the hunger and the desire to win.
“Sometimes I think he will keep this hunger and learn to channel the emotions a bit and that is never a problem.
“It's good to have him the way he is and we will try to get the most out of it, because, as I said, he is an important player for us for me.”
Tuchel is thinking of changes for Latvia
In the meantime, Tuchel is ready to rotate against Latvia on Monday, while the boss of New England was to juggle tired legs and to get the most out of his limited opportunities with the players.
Anthony Gordon, who came from the bank against Albania, is a big doubt because of a hip problem scanned on Saturday, when players only have to worry about recovery, because Tuchel re -concentrates on the next task.
Asked if he is looking at Rotation against Latvia, Tuchel said: “Yes. I think we had some heavy legs.
“I even felt a bit tired, so we will of course take the opportunity to check who is available and we have some good, good players on the couch that came today or not even played, so we have our options.
“But I have full faith in all 22 players, plus four keepers, and from there we go.
“We have a full day of recovery for everyone (on Saturday). Everyone earns that because everyone has trained at a high level and has now played the game together, so tomorrow is a recovery day and Sunday, we will take care of Monday.”
70 Not Out – Kane decided to stretch the goal of England further
England's Record Goalscorer Kane is still hungry for more after doing for the 70th time on Friday.
The 31-year-old persecuted his remarkable scoring record for his country and brought up the Milpaal Door in his 104th performance.
Kane said before the game he felt that people “bored” by his goals, but warned that there would be much more.
“I am just very happy. That was a bit taken out of context,” he said.
“I know that fans appreciate everything I do and like to see myself in an English shirt.
“It is almost 10 years since my debut in England and I enjoy it as much as my first camp. I love being here, I love being at Wembley.
“I feel comfortable in this team and in this area. Number 70 is a great achievement to hit, but hopefully to come a few more.”
