Julianna Pena boldly claims the US presidential election ‘stole the limelight’ from her second UFC title win

UFC 316 Co-Headliner Julianna Pena says that Donald Trump has stolen her thunder.

Pena is currently in the middle of her second title line in the largest stage in MMA, which started when she barely defeated Raquel Pensnington in October in October.

During her interview after the fight, Pena Amanda Nunes, the woman who beat them three years before the first time, reached the top at 135 pounds.

That result marked one of the greatest disturbances in the UFC and attracted a lot of attention and fanfare. However, the same cannot be said for Pena's second -year title profit.

While some could put that on the controversial decision that won her the belt or the low-profile character of the Pennington matchup, Pena sees things differently.

Julianna Pena places Low-Key crown as a double UFC champion until the elections

Pena recently gave an example of her upcoming return to action on UFC 316 in an interview with Thomas Gerbasi for UFC.com.

As I looked back on her previous triumph, the 35-year-old admitted that things felt considerably different from her first time she adapted to life as a champion.

Pena put that on the timeline, among other things, with her victory in the run -up to the victory of the US presidential elections of Donald Trump.

“I think the first time was a lot better because she (nunes) was such a ruling champion for so long,” said Pena. “And with this, the (presidential) elections arrived in November, I won in October, so the spotlight stole.

“And when the new year hit, and I was already back in Vechtkamp for my next. So I did not get the Ticker -TapParade that I completely got when I won and defeated Amanda. But I just give more to be a good person and immediately do my daughter and my beloved people when I die.

“It is not as if you can bring it to heaven with you. So I just want to concentrate on a good person. And if I get a belt at the end of the day, then that's just the icing at the top. But I know that I am a champion in my heart and in my mind, and the belt is just a bit tangible that you can set up.”

Julianna Pena can expect more fanfare if she wins at UFC 316

Without a big political mood, Pena might come more if she came as a victor on Saturday.

That will probably be the case, regardless of the considerable task that awaits her in Newark.

Pena will defend her title against Kayla Harrison on UFC 316, where the challenger will come in as an important favorite.

Many count out the champion and make comparisons with the construction of Pena's great upset against Nunes, another then-American top teamster.

If she repeats the performance at the expense of Harrison, Pena will add a big upset to her collection.

But just like with UFC 269 four years ago, in the words of Nate Diaz, she will undoubtedly not be 'surprised, mother'.
