Jurrien Timber tells Arsenal team-mates it’s time to ‘change the narrative’

Jurrien Timber insists that Arsenal can turn their entire season in the Champions League.

Gunners Defender Timber says that the goal is to “change the story” after two disastrous results in the Premier League have left their title loop in decks.

Arsenal could not score against West Ham and Nottingham Forest, dropped five points and now stand 11 points behind leaders Liverpool, which means that Europe is their best hope for silverware.

Timber, who is confronted with the Dutch club PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday evening, said: “I think the motivation is there. It is a great competition to play in. We have shown in the group stage that we have done really well, we have a good team and this is a wonderful game and a chance to change the story to win.

“Arsenal is a big club. I also feel that I am part of something big, this team can win a lot and we will always do everything we can to win prizes and tomorrow is a new step for that.

“It's a big challenge. PSV has shown everyone that they have a lot of quality, not only at the front, but as a team they are very strong. It will be very difficult. “

Arsenal has been struck by injuries with Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, which has erased their strike power and target threat. But even after signing a blank in their last two games, Timber is convinced that they will come up with a solution and score goals.

Timber said: “I think we have so much quality in our group, of course we have a lot of injuries, especially from the front, but it is a wonderful challenge for us to score our front players – or someone – to score goals and hopefully we can show that.

“We have to score tomorrow, we have to win and in the Champions League you only have two games, so you don't get second chances, so we have to go for this game.

“I don't see it as negative, but we have experienced a lot, especially in recent weeks, but it is a challenge for us and we have to assume.

“We always work a lot on, in terms of offensive, in terms of defense. We always work on things and we will never stop. “
