Justin Gaethje knocked out one-armed fighter to defend title before UFC fame

For his legendary run in the UFC, Justin Gaethje made a name for himself in World Series of Fighting, now known as the PFL.

Since he arrived at the UFC in 2017, Justin Gaethje has quickly become a favorite among the fans because of his incredible fighting style.

'The highlight' came in the promotion with a reputation like wild, so much that Gaethje got a main event spot in his promotion debut, which turned out to be a crazy fight against Michael Johnson.

His round two ko victory on Johnson started his incredible career in the UFC, which continues on 8 March on UFC 313 when Gaethje takes on Rafael Fiziev in a huge rematch.

Justin Gaethje took out a one-armed hunter for the legendary UFC-Run

Before he got his chance in Prime Minister MMA Promotion, 'The Loading' made a name for himself in World Series of Fighting, which is now better known as the PFL.

In 2014, Gaethje won the WSOF vacant lightweight title on WSOF 8, in which Richard Patishnok was eliminated in the first round and maintained his undefeated record.

For his first defending defense, Gaethje defended his 155 pound title against 'Notorious' Nick Newell, who was known for having only one arm.

On the way to their fight, Newell was also unbeaten, which is an incredible achievement for a hunter who only had one arm.

Gaethje had to overcome early adversity in that fight when Newell caught him with several heavy shots that seemed to take their toll at 'the highlight'.

Although Gaethje opened a huge cut on the side of Newell's head that marked the beginning of the end, and in round two he landed the knockout blow with a huge right hand.

Justin Gaethje still hopes to win UFC Gold undisputed

Now Gaethje is one of the biggest stars in the UFC and a great victory is potentially from challenging the lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev.

After another successful title defense last January in which Makhachev has set a new UFC record, the Russian champion admitted that he wants to fight against Gaethje, despite a run that he saw him go in his last four fights 202.

And with that Gaethje believes that with a victory against Fiziev on UFC 313 he could rise to the top of the title interview and challenge the title next to Makhakev.
