Juventus 2-1 Lecce: Hosts stretch unbeaten streak to boost top-four hopes

Juventus scored twice in the first half to achieve a 2-1 victory over relegation-threatened Lecce in the Serie A, by continuing the undefeated start of Igor Tudor.

Teun Koopmeiners and Kenan Yildiz scored the goals for the hosts, with Lecce left a goal, although it turned out to be only a consolation, because Juventus extended their undefeated series to three games to keep their top-four hope alive.

Juventus had completely in the first half on Saturday, where Koopmeiners set the tone with his early opener. He scored with a low strike in the distant pole after Dusan Vlahovic let him go in the box with a neat pass.

Vlahovic and Renato Veiga had blocked opportunities in succession when Juve stormed Lecce's goal before Yildiz doubled their lead in the 33rd minute with an attempt in the bottom corner.

The Serbian striker, who also set up the goal of Yildiz, had an excellent opportunity to bring the score to 3-0 after the break, but Wladimiro Falcone hit him before he could shoot up close.

Juventus took their foot from the gas in the second half and Lecce focused a nervy ending in the Allianz Stadium when Federico Baschirotto nodded a powerful header from a free kick home with another three minutes.

However, Lecce could not find a late equalizer, because their Winless Run extended to nine games, so they had two points above the relegation zone. In the meantime, Juventus moved to third place in the Serie A, Sprong Atalanta, who plays on Sunday.

Data debrief: Tudor Reignites Top-four Hoop

Tudor has had an impact since he stepped in to replace Thiago -Motta and made sure that Juventus did not slip in the race for the top four, with the pursuit package concluded.

This was also a milestone victory for Juve. It was their 200th in the Allianz Stadium in the Serie A; Since their debut season in this stadium (2011-12), the Bianconeri have been the first team to reach this milestone at home in the competition (followed by Napoli at 168).

Vlahovic played a crucial role to make it happen. He no longer scored since February 23, but he orchestrated both goals on Saturday.

He has now matched his record for assists in the Serie A (four, also in 2023-24) and has offered more than one assist for the first time in a single game since he arrived in Italy (247 games in all competitions).
