Juventus backing Motta despite Fiorentina defeat, says chief Giuntoli

The football director of Juventus, Cristiano Giuntoli, said that the club is holding confidence with Thiago Motta despite a second consecutive heavy defeat on Sunday.

After he was hammered at home with 4-0 last weekend by Atalanta, Motta looked up while his side was defeated 3-0 by Fiorentina to leave them fifth in the classification of the Serie A.

Quickfire objectives from Robin Gosens and Rolando Mandragora In the first half, Fiorentina brought control before Albert Gudmundson sealed the victory after the interval.

Juventus has indeed lost two consecutive Series A matches with at least three goals for the third time in their history, after January 2011 under Luigi Delneri and March 1957, with Sandro Puppo in the Dugout.

“We all have to stay united at these moments, we all come together from difficulties,” Giuntoli told Sky Sports.

“We are very sorry, we had a year with ups and downs, but we had never played two games, but we are convinced that we can all come out of this together.”

When he was asked if this meant it was in charge, Giuntoli had no doubt: “Certainly,” he said.

“We started with a project in which we counted on having difficulties, lowering salaries and everything else. We have to think about nothing but our primary goal, that is to be eligible for the Champions League.”

Giuntoli is not dragged after two bad versions, just like the club was not when they started the season with successive 3-0 victories over Como and Verona.

“We try to analyze what has happened in recent weeks in a clear way. Let's not forget that the media, after Verona, had us as a potential winner of the competition,” said Giuntoli.

“We need balance, we can't go from the stars to the stables. In the coming days we will try to move forward with a clear mind.

“We must have a balance, on and next to the field. Up to two games ago, the team had the best defense in the competition, which has admitted four or three goals that we have lost the balance.”

Juventus struggled to create notes against Fiorentina, with only two of their 11 attempts that David de Gea test in the goal of Fiorentina.

Since last September (in that case last September (against Napoli and Genoa), Juventus have been completed in the first half in two consecutive Series A matches without a shot on goal (US Atalanta and Fiorentina).

Despite the difficulties in his first season in the club, Motta was adamant to not throw in the towel, with Juve from the title race, the Champions League and Coppa Italia.

“It would be too easy to do it. I don't like easy things,” Motta said when he was asked about the opportunity to resign.

“We have to win, we have to find a way to get the points we need for our goal, which is in the top four of the championship.

“It is a bit like a continuation of the last game, it's the same story. We start well than at the first difficulty, such as against Atalanta, we couldn't respond.”
