Juventus boss Tudor expects ‘difficult’ Serie A campaign

Igor Tudor expects a “difficult season”, while Juventus, who wants to win their place at the top of Italian football, start the new Serie A campaign on Sunday at home against Parma.

After another tumultuous season in the past term, the Bianconeri succeeded in obtaining a valuable top-four finish, which qualified for the Champions League.

Once dominant with nine consecutive league titles, Juventus Serie A has not won since 2020, abused their longest run without a scudetto since the title in seven consecutive seasons between 2002-03 and 2011-12.

Head coach Tudor, who replaced Thiago Motta in March, supervised a Club World Cup campaign in which Juve reached the last 16 before they lost Real Madrid.

Tudor sketches his hope for the 2025-26 season and said: “It will be a difficult season for all teams. The history of this club is clear. You have to focus high. However, predictions do not matter, you just have to work hard and concentrate on every game when it comes.”

Transfer Business is limited due to persistent financial issues, but the signing of Jonathan David van Lille offers hope for rejuvenating Juve's attack, with the club that worked only 58 goals last season-de on two NA-FEWEST in the top 10 of Series A.

However, Tudor feels that David will bring enough in Juve's last third output.

“David is always extremely focused and works very hard,” Tudor said. “I like that and he is always dangerous in the penalty area and moves well. He is a real professional.”

Last season Parma Juventus beat 1-0 in the Stadio Tardini in April and previously claimed a 2-2 draw in Turin in the campaign.

They confirmed their Serie A status with a 3-2 victory over Atalanta on the last day, where they marked successive seasons in the top flight for the first time since 2021.

Players to watch

Juventus – Jonathan David

Signing for the Bianconeri on a five -year contract after the expiry of his deal at Lille, David is in line to turn his series into a debut.

The Canadian registered 102 target involvement (87 goals and 15 assists) in Ligue 1 in five seasons with Lille. David was also productive in Europe, won 10 goals and added two assists in 18 Champions League performances.

Parma – Emanuele Valeri

After making the switch from Frosinone at the end of the 2023-24 campaign, the left back last season was a revelation for Parma and played a role in eight of their 44 Series A-Doelen.

The 26-year-old picked up six assists, the 12th most in the Serie A and most of each player in Parma.

Match forecast: Juventus wins

Juve will participate in their 93rd Serie A season – A count only surpassed by Inter, which played in 94 campaigns.

The Bianconeri has the most opening day victories in the competition history, with 61 victories, 24 draws and only seven defeats, with a lead of at least nine wins at another club (AC Milan has 52).

Juve and Parma met four times during the opening weekend of Serie A, where the Bianconeri won all those meetings with a combined score of 9-2.

After this match, Juve will be the side that Parma most often confronted in the top flight on their opening day and surpassed the previous record of four games against Udinese.

In the meantime, Parma is back for successive Serie A seasons for the first time since 2019-2020 and 2020-21; She also saw that piece kicking off against Juventus and lost 1-0 to the Bianmaneri on 24 August 2019.
