Juventus captain Danilo leaves club after terminating contract

Juventus captain Danilo has left the series a club after a mutual termination of the 33-year-old contract.

The Brazilian appeared 213 performances for the Bianconeri during his five and a half year stay in Turin, while won four trophies, including the competition title in 2019-2020.

Danilo, who came to the Italian side of Manchester City in 2019, has made 12 performances in the Serie A of this season, with only six of those starts.

The last competition performance of the defender, however, came in a 2-2 draw with Venezia on December 14, in which head coach Thiago Motta confirmed that Danilo was free to leave in the transfer star of January.

“Danilo has always been an example of professionalism and dedication, from his score debut against Napoli on August 31, 2019, until his last game played against Venezia on December 14, 2024 in Bianconero,” Juventus said in a statement.

Danilo was named the 2023-24 season for the 2023-24 season and took over from Leonardo Bonucci to become the first non-Italian captain of the club in six decades.

He also won two Coppa Italia titles and the Supercoppa Italiana.

Danilo, who has 65 caps for Brazil and has also worn the colors of Porto and Real Madrid in Europe, is reportedly close to joining Flamengo in his home country on a free transfer.
