Juventus coach Tudor happy with debut win; defends Koopmeiners

Juve won 1-0 thanks to the goal of Kenan Yildiz.

Tudor said afterwards: “We only had two or three training sessions, the enthusiasm is clearly stimulated, but there is only so much that you can do at a tactical and psychological level. It's all different, the tactical system, but they were also used to a different style, because I want to be more vertical and with a different kind of intensity.

“I am happy because the boys understood, they wanted to do a lot of things, there was more that we could have done, but that is normal. We are happy for the fans, we fought with our hearts to get this result.

“Now we rest for a day and we can finally work seriously for a whole week with the entire team at our disposal.”

In the meantime, Tudor also commented on Teun Koopmeiners, who was boosted by Juve fans when he was replaced.

He said: “I agree that it is not a great moment of shape for him, that is clear. He has shown over the years that he is a strong player, so the only way out is hard work, physical and mental.

“He is a good boy, he gives it, has such a talented foot. I only had two training sessions with him, we have to breathe new life into the player and we will do that.”
