Juventus let lead slip as they fall to Serie A draw against Torino

It took just six minutes for Kenan Yildiz to keep Juventus' sense of derby dominance going, with a double shimmy on the edge of the box taking out three Torino defenders before firing low past Vanja Milinkovic-Savic at his near post.

Notably, that goal made him the first man since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018/19 to score in both Turin derbies in a single season.

Despite their dismal history in this match, Torino rallied and the opener was almost canceled out when Karol Linetty missed the target after receiving a corner.

The end-to-end affair continued, but after continually venturing deeper into Juventus territory, it was Torino who struck next.

The equalizer was also worth the wait, as Yann Karamoh gave the lead to Nikola Vlasic, who took a tap with his right boot, and then volleyed the ball in the air with his left, sending the shot in via Michele Di Gregorio's left post and sending it the home believers in ecstasy.

Although neither goalkeeper was particularly tested in the opening minutes after the break, the second half continued in similarly entertaining fashion.

As the noise grew and the tempo of the game increased, the tension boiled over when no apparent foul was called on Karamoh while Torino were in the lead. A fight ensued on the sidelines, sending the surreal sight of both Paolo Vanoli and Thiago Motta into the stands.

It was Yildiz who continued to show the most promise in the final third, however, firing just narrowly over the bar at the three-quarter mark as he conceded a goal on the edge of the penalty area.

Teun Koopmeiners did the same and perhaps should have done more than shooting directly at Milinkovic-Savić with the half-volley.

However, the goalkeeper certainly earned his reward with fifteen minutes of normal time remaining when Samuel Mbangula crossed the ball for Nico González who fired home and forced Milinković-Savić to tap his shot away.

Juventus finished arguably the stronger of the two sides, with Torino increasingly resorting to pop shots rather than clutch play – much of which was built through Karamoh.

With Milinkovic-Savic also thwarting Andrea Cambiaso late with a diving save, Torino will be encouraged and frustrated in equal measure as they remain stuck at just one home win (D4, L5) since early September. As for Juventus, it is now four without a clean sheet, and they will end the day three points behind the top four.
