Bayern Munich -star Harry Kane wants to compete with a different kind of club when he ultimately calls time on his football career. The gap in one club, to be specific.
Kane is far from the only football player who has a great interest in Golf. Another former Tottenham star, Wales International Gareth Bale, took his clubs not long after he hung his boots in 2023.
“I have never received a hole in one,” Kane admitted to his Cleats Club Channel (via Doel). “One of my lifetime goals is to become a member of the gap in one club!”
On the football field Kane – such as Bale – is forced to leave North Londs to break its drought of the league title. Bayern can achieve the Bundesliga title against RB Leipzig this afternoon, although he will be suspended for the match itself.
The captain of England scored in the Bundesliga last season and is on track to repeat this term. He is five goals free from the nearest challenger Patrik Schick, although the Leverkusen star enjoys the best season of his career when it comes to goals in all competitions.
Kane's fifth yellow card of the season came for a waste of time in a victory against Mainz who placed Bayern on the eve of the title. Bayern was already 2-0 up when he went into the book late in the first half and eventually won 3-0 with Eric Dier Sealing Victory.
The suspension rules of the Bundesliga are different from those in the Premier League, where Kane spent most of his career. In the English top flight comes the conclusion for a suspension for five yellow cards halfway through the season, and players cannot earn yellow card suspensions of any kind after Gameweek 32 of 38.
“First of all, I think it's an insane decision,” Kane said about his booking to Mainz. “It is never a yellow card. Unfortunately, people sometimes come to the Allianz Arena and try to make a name for themselves.
“That is why I am really disappointed that I have the yellow card, because of course I knew that I already had four. And secondly, I think the rule is crazy anyway. Five yellow cards in 34 games means a suspension. Geke, crazy decision. It is a kind of my story that I will miss the Leipzig game.
Bayern is eight points in the second place Leverkusen with three more games of the season. That means that a draw or defeat against Champions League Chasers Leipzig will still see them crowned champions this weekend when Leverkusen is falling against Freiburg on Sunday.
