Harry Kane believes that Bayern Munich has made a “explanation” when they launched their Bundesliga title defense with a 6-0 routing from Leipzig.
The side of Vincent Kompany came out of the blocks flying in the Allianz Arena, where Kane scored a second half Hattrick to capture a dominant victory.
Michael Olise scored twice, while Luis Diaz was also in goal in the first half for Bayern, who performed better than their expected goals (XG) of 1.62.
The Bavarian Giants, who finished 13 points from second place Bayer Leverkusen last season, are now undefeated in their opening match of 14 consecutive Bundesliga campaigns, won 12 and sign two.
Kane – Fresh of scoring his ninth Bundesliga -Hattrick – thought it was important to him and his teammates to run the ground.
“It was definitely a very good game,” said England's captain. “We wanted to make a statement from the start, first play at home in the Bundesliga, and I think we did that.
“The achievements of everyone from the back to a very high level and we were clinical for the goal. You can't really complain with a 6-0 win.
“During the break, at 3-0, I told myself that I had to come on the score sheet, so it was nice to add a few goals in the second half.”
Kompany was happy that Bayern “many questions” answered their performance, but understands that it is still early days in the search from his side to keep their Bundesliga -crown.
“The energy and pleasure were there. I hope the fans enjoyed it,” he added. “That's why we play football. It was really a great evening in the Allianz Arena.
“There were many questions before the game, and we answered them on the field. We stayed calm, focused on the game and our energy in the game. The foundation was there.
“The boys have worked as if they have not won anything yet. If we keep track of that, we will win a lot of games. But it is just one game that we have won here.”
