Kane sends message to his Bayern team-mates ahead of Leverkusen second leg

Harry Kane emphasized the importance of 'staying focused' after Bayern Munich threw away a lead of two goals to suffer a 3-2 defeat by Bochum during the weekend.

The first half of the first half of Raphael Guerreiro gave the hosts a comfortable lead in the beginning, but this was soon unraveled by a Bochum side who lies 16th place in the Bundesliga and struggled to float while fighting relegation.

The defeat was only Bayern's second in the competition this season, and will do little to help their momentum in the second stage of their Champions League Last-16 Clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

Vincent Kompany's side left Bavaria last week with a huge advantage, after they had defeated Leverkusen 3-0 in the Allianz Arena in the first stage.

But at the weekend Bayern had hoped to be able to rest some of their big guns, including Kane, who got a rare rest on the couch before he arrived in the 62nd minute when the score was already 2-2.

Only 10 minutes later, Bayern gave a third and did not succeed in getting a foothold in the game. Kane rested the mistakes on his side, including Joao Palhinha that was sent in the first half.

“We started the game well and did everything we needed to take the lead,” said England's captain.

“Then they scored and the momentum shifted. After the red card it shows that you have to stay focused for 90 minutes at this level or you can be punished – and that is exactly what happened today. '

Kane took his count in all competitions this season to 30 goals with a brace in Bayern's first leg win on Leverkusen.

The striker could finally get some silverwork in his hands this period after remarkably mass in his debut season in Munich.

The former Tottenham star completed a move to Germany from his youth in 2023 to win the first trophies of his career.

Bayern is clear eight points at the top of the Bundesliga and will be sure to continue to the last eight of the Champions League. The final of the competition will be organized on 31 May in their Allianz Arena.

“We played well for half the round,” said Bayern boss Vincent Kompany after their success of the first legs. 'The second half will be in Leverkusen next week. We will have to play just as well to reach the quarterfinals.

“We have now played Leverkusen four times and today it was again about the details, even if the result does not look like it in the end.”
