Roy Keane launched a passionate and destructive assessment of Manchester United in the aftermath of their 4-1 defeat by Newcastle on Sunday evening.
The Red Devils suffered a 14th loss of competition, which were the same as their record for the top flight that came in the last term, and were sometimes torn apart in the second half when an unbridled Newcastle Riot ran.
Alexander Isak Teed Sandro Tonali fantastic for the opener, but Alejandro Garnacho hit back for the break while the two parties went to the break level.
But Newcastle flew the blocks away, with Harvey Barnes who pay attention twice after the interval and Bruno Guimaraes who benefited from a bad Altay Bayindir error to bring the score to 4-1.
United struggled to put a finger on the magpies in particular in the second half, and as such, Keane apparently received a lot of ammunition to criticize the gloomy display of his former party.
The former captain actually claimed that his old party looked 'physical and mental' weak 'in their defeat compared to Victorious Newcastle.
“Not good enough, the second half,” said Keane Sky Sports in a damming indictment of the Red Devils.
'Those are 14 league matches they have lost. There are not enough players who run in the team. You have to dig deep even if you are against it.
'United is now a weak team physically and mentally. Newcastle was too fast, they were too powerful, they were more determined.
“I can't see it (signs that man united gets better). I am worried about this group of players. For me they don't look mentally as a strong group. '
Although Statistist Newcastle was not necessarily in a different competition than United – six shots on goal versus five, 48 percent owns versus 52 – the hosts appeared the distant superior side.
Although the ownership statistics were comparable, Newcastle had 37 touches in the opposition box, more than triple that of United, and had 40 more successful last thirds (103 versus 63).
With United, who has been struggling in recent years to challenge the competition title, the fault is aimed at managers and owners on different occasions, but Keane seemed to think that some of the responsibility is lying elsewhere for their current plight.
“Nobody likes to lose games, but it's the way they lose,” he went on. 'They lost 14 league games and lost 14 last season, so that's why you have to point your finger at this group of players. I think the manager is scratching her head.
“I bet he can't believe how bad the united team is. This group of players, the mistakes they make, they don't seem to get around the field. They have an experienced right-wing back back that let players run past him.
'I think he went there and I think he has been shocked about how bad this group of players are.
'You don't know a group of players until you start working with them. In the past few years, many of the recruitment introduced players who did not play in the Premier League.
“The lack of goals is a problem. Today we had a keeper entered, in terms of playing back and taking opportunities, it's madness. Great teams lose football matches, but sometimes it is the way you lose them. '
