Keane’s daughter and England star release photos of their Italian yacht proposal
England star Taylor Harwood-Bellis and his fiancée Leah Keane were one of the talking points during their international breakthrough and the couple have now made their engagement photos public.
The surprising relationship has come into the spotlight in recent weeks after the Southampton defender was called up to the Three Lions first-team squad for the Nations League matches against Greece and Ireland.
The couple has kept their relationship away from the prying eyes of social media for the most part, but it appears they are no longer taking this approach.
Keane's Instagram remains private, but the couple have now put their engagement photos out for all to see in a joint post on Harwood-Bellis' Instagram.
Harwood-Bellis got down on one knee on a yacht with the beautiful backdrop of Positano on Italy's Amalfi Coast on June 13 this year.
“I can't wait to marry you,” Keane wrote alongside a series of beautiful photos, with the post racking up more than 15,000 likes.
Little is known about their relationship, but the couple is believed to have been together for at least five years, with a photo of them together in 2019 surfacing online.
The Saints centre-back revealed he was with Leah when he got the call from interim England boss Lee Carsley to tell him he had been selected.
“I couldn't quite believe it at first,” he added. 'It was a feeling of pride. I was with my partner.
'Then I called my dad and he was very proud of the fact that I had played for England in all age groups and was now in the seniors. My whole family was thrilled.
“One of the first people to message was Aaron Ramsdale, he messaged straight away. He's one of my friends at Southampton.'
It proved a dream debut for Harwood-Bellis, who made his first start in the 5-0 win over Ireland and finished it off with a goal.
Roy Keane was a pundit for ITV that evening and jokingly reflected on the relationship between the England star and his daughter.
“Bittersweet for me,” Keane told ITV Sport after the match.
Host Mark Pougatch pointed out that Harwood-Bellis is Keane's future son-in-law, to which the Manchester United legend joked: “It's not done and dusted yet!”
He added: 'In recent months he has certainly been a goal threat playing for Southampton, it's nice for him.
“It's great for him to make his debut because I said he's a bit of a goal threat. He's a nice guy, his family has done a great job.”
Football runs in the Harwood-Bellis family, and not just with the in-laws. His sister Rebecca was once a youth basketball international in Great Britain.
His uncle Steve is chairman of their local team Stockport County, while his father spent his match days as the mascot of the Vernon Bear club – a cuddlier dad than his future father-in-law.
Harwood-Bellis joined Southampton from Man City this summer after captaining Carsley's under-21 side to European Championship glory.
