Not long after Mohamed Salah has committed his future to Liverpool, Ex-Manchester United captain Roy Keane made an interesting claim about the Egyptian, Arsenal and the Premier League title
Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane claimed that Arsenal would storm to the Premier League title if they had Liverpool star Mohamed Salah at their disposal.
Salah, 32, has committed his future to Anfield this week by placing pen-to paper on a new two-year contract. It concluded months of speculation and public messages sent by Salah, who had previously claimed that he was “more out” on the red side of Merseyside. The news also came to the side of Arne Slot at the perfect moment, who hope to secure the Premier League title in the coming weeks.
Liverpool recommends a considerable lead in the title race against Arsenal, who handed the initiative to the Reds by attracting four of their last six Premier League matches.
Despite the former United Skipper who endured a fierce rivalry with Liverpool during his career, Keane admitted that he was happy that Salah was convinced to sign the dotted lines.
Speaking at Sky Sports, Keane made his both claims when he said: “He is undoubtedly a good example for all young players. We see him, week-in, week out, scoring the goals and getting assists.
“If you place him in the Arsenal team, Arsenal would win the competition this year, so special he is. I am a bit happy that they have done the deal because you want the top players to play in the Premier League.
“It was just a matter of time that they agreed. I think he deserves it. He is a special player and undoubtedly a good professional. You are busy making the changes that the club has and to make goals and not to give contracts to certain players, but every player can be different.
“We have seen him interviewed many times, he is a real professional, a fitness freak and he does the company. That's why they had to give him the deal, they just couldn't let him go the door for free.”
Despite the fact that they have not found the net against Everton and Fulham in the last two games of the Reds, Salah helped herself up to 32 goals and 22 assists in all competitions this season. He was connected to a lucrative move to Saudi Aarabia, before signing his new deal.
Salah explained his reasoning behind the stay in Liverpool, Salah told the official Liverpool website. “I am very excited. We now have a great team.
“We used to have a great team. But I signed because I think we have the chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.
“It's great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it will be 10. Enjoy my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.
'I would like to say it [the fans]I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win many big trophies together. Keep supporting us and we give it our best, and hopefully we will win more trophies in the future. “
