Kelly insists there is ‘more to come’ from her as England resume preparations

Chloe Kelly does not think “too much” of her club future, despite the contract of the Arsenal Loan star with Manchester City that ends in June.

Instead, her focus is on the “mentally and physical” in the best place with the Gunners and Lionesses that compete for large awards.

Since her return in January to Arsenal, where she started her professional career at the age of 17, Kelly, 27, flourished next to England -Friends Alessia Russo, Beth Mead and Leah Williamson.

High Points for the Forward includes delivering two class assists in a three goals from Real Madrid with the team from the Champions League Quartals dumped.

Efforts were, among other things, drilled her Pinpoint Cross home through Gunners Striker Russo.

Just like Russo, Mead and Williamson, Kelly is in the race to start against Belgium when England plays their Third Nations League match on Friday 4 April.

This is far away from the first half of this term, where Kelly makes a start in six City WSL matches and was initially omitted from the team of England in February.

Two months after her tumultuous exit on loan from City, a Leeuwines return came for the attacker who now plays “with a smile”.

The 50-covered lioness said: “It is really important as a person that you get that smile on your face.

“That has nothing to do with a football player, it's just like a human, because that is important.

“I certainly laugh more, I feel really good.

“At the moment I play a lot of minutes, enjoy my football and I really learn under (Arsenal Boss) Renee (Slees).

“Now I am here (with England), I have another chance to represent my country, which is an enormous honor.

“There is definitely more to come from me.

“I am a player who wants to learn and always want to get better and I am probably my own worst critic.

“There will be games where I might not be my best, but it is really important that I take that step to become the best version of myself.”

With the beginning of July 5 from England's bid to quickly retain their European championship title, questions have arisen about Kelly's future outside of her Arsenal -Loing.

However, the attacker, who scored the tournament-winning goal of the Lionesses at Wembley three years ago, did not look too far ahead.

Kelly adds: “I don't think too much. I assume every day when it comes and work hard to place myself at the best possible place for the next day.

“That is really important and I don't look too far ahead.

“I just have fun right now, enjoy myself and back in London with my family who spends a lot of time with them.

“I really appreciate the little things in life.”

Kelly was able to see the first of the two Nations League matches of England with Belgium next to Russo and Forward Mead this Friday.

The reverse fixture takes place in Leuven on Tuesday April 6

The trio was last in action together on March 30 against Crystal Palace in the WSL, where Mead Twice nets twice nets and Russo also scored in the 4-0 Arsenal victory.

Kelly said: “The renovation of that connection is really important and the connection outside the field and on it.”

“By pushing myself every day, I can learn what Alessia does and how I can match that to be at my best to help her score and also Beth.

“She is a great friend of mine – Beth.

“If you have that competition, you can be at your best every day.

“And you can also push each other in moments, so that is really important.

“There is so much that we can learn from each other.”
