Keown: De Ligt who cost an ‘OBSCENE amount’ is ‘creating issues’ for Amorim

Martin Keown has mentioned the recruit of Manchester United Summer that he believes he has weakened the side of Ruben Amorim in the aftermath of another hardening Premier League defeat for the Red Devils.

United was beaten on Sunday by Spurs in a lower half scrap with colleague Big Six Struggers Tottenham, with 1-0 to the side of Postecoglou in Ange.

The visitors were undone by a 13th minute goal of the recurring James Maddison and are currently 15th in the table after a difficult weekend.

Although a long way of a relegation struggle at the moment, Man United is only two points for 16th place West Ham and they have to do the following weekend when they travel to Goodison Park to revive Everton under former manager David Moyes to face.

But Arsenal legend Keown suggested that one star from the line-up had to be omitted for their next Premier League collision.

Former Bayern Munich and Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt were in the shooting line after the Sunday test, where Keown brought the 'obscene' amount former manager Erik ten Hag to seduce him to Old Trafford.

Since last summer, De Ligt has difficulty asserting himself in the back line of United, with Keown emphasizing that part of his decision -making has transferred the pressure on the team as a whole.

“Look at De Ligt, the amount of money they have spent on him, is almost obscene for a center half,” said Keown about the £ 42.9 million defender on Talksport. “He plays like a robot.

“There are times when he can free the ball and he turns it off for a corner. He simply creates problems for the team. Ruben Amorim has to authorize him with confidence, I don't see that with him. '

The comments of Keown reflect that made by the former man United -man Paul Scholes, who has been heavily criticized De Ligt this season.

Scholes pointed out that he was 'worried' by the age of De Ligt – 25 – as well as the amount of clubs he played since he broke out under ten hag at Ajax.

“He was brilliant at Ajax, he seems to get worse as he gets older,” Scholes said about the overlapping Fandebat, brought to you by Sky Bet. 'Bayern Munich, Juventus, they let him go for some reason.

“Where are your ambitions?” Scholes asked about his former club. 'I am talking about getting a team to win the Premier League. Are you going to win the Premier League with De Ligt and (Leny) Yoro as your center halves? '

Although winning the title might be a way for Amorim's injury hit-side, the Portuguese manager Bullish was about his job security after the defeat against Tottenham.

Amorim was without 12 players and had to pack his bank with teenagers from the Academy when United lost in the competition for the 12th time – their most defeats in the first 25 games of a season since they were banned in 1974.

“I'm not worried,” he said. 'I understand our fans, what the media think about it. I hate to lose, that feeling is the worst.

“I don't think the rest. I understand my situation, my work, I have faith in my work and I just want to win games.

'The place in the table is my concern, I am not worried about me.

'I have a lot of problems, my work is so difficult here. But I stay with my beliefs. We just have to face it and not run away, that's my feeling. Today it will hurt, it is a heavy pain to lose so many games. '
