Kevin De Bruyne confirmed that he would leave the club this summer after 10 incredible years at Etihad and he has already received an option for his next chapter, with David Beckham's Inter Miami Keen about a movement
Kevin De Bruyne is sought by the Inter Miami side of David Beckham when he leaves Manchester City this summer. Inter Miami will set up their bid to bring De Bruyne to the MLS after the city legend has announced that he will leave the Etihad after a decade of unprecedented success.
De Bruyne, out of contract at the end of this season, became a free agent at the beginning of 2025 and confirmed last Friday that this is his last campaign with the city.
Inter Miami has kept a close eye on the situation of De Bruyne and it is understood that Beckham and his fellow club bosses are ready to offer the 33-year-old a deal.
The landing of a player of De Bruyne's status would be a huge coup for Inter Miami and the MLS in general, but the Beckham team is confronted with strong competition from the Saudi Pro League.
De Bruyne considered leaving the city last summer, after a strong interest in a number of clubs in Saudi Aarabia, but chose to stay and see the last year of his deal.
It is understanding that moving to the United States – and in particular Miami – is a great attraction for De Bruyne and his young family, even more than Saudi Arabia.
But the Belgium International knows that he could obtain a much more lucrative deal if he chose to go to Saudi instead, where he could bring a salary of around £ 400,000 a week. De Bruyne will be 34 in June and knows his next movement after City could prove to be the last of his long and glittering career.
City has already discussed the construction of a statue of De Bruyne outside the Etihad, as a permanent tribute to his remarkable contribution to the recent era of the club.
De Bruyne has won 16 trophies since he came to City in 2015 and will try to end in a high by helping Pep Guardiola to win the FA Cup and a Champions League place.
When asked about the future of De Bruyne, Guardiola said: “I think he should decide, he should talk, because now with the World Cup it is a new contract, legally, you know.
“If he can continue to play football in a different place, it depends on the risk, playing for the contracts or injuries, or the future. So I don't know. I don't know. I think the club should talk to him, or he should say what he wants to do.
“Of course it is the first time you play this competition and at the end of the first three games he is still under contract. After that, if we continue, I don't know. So I can't answer. Kevin has to tell and then it can be legally possible or not.”
