Real Madrid looked as if they had finally found a functioning system in February, after she had been comfortably in the Champions League. However, that short -term balance was quickly thrown away, and it was impossible to escape from the fact that it coincided with an injury to Dani Ceballos.
The 28-year-old former real Betis-Man won at the end of February in the dying moments of their Copa del Rey Semi-final first leg against Real Sociedad, while Los Blancos gained a 1-0 advantage at Anoeta. Shortly thereafter, he was excluded for two months with a knee problem and the fight of Real Madrid returned against Real Betis, Rayo Vallecano and Atletico Madrid.
That dismissal should have kept him out of effect until the end of April, with a potential return that touches him and goes for a Copa del Rey final if Real Madrid should make it. However, Ceballos racets back to recover in advance according to the sport and wants to cut his recovery time by two weeks. His goal date is the first stage of their Champions League collision against Arsenal on 8 April, which takes place in London in the Emirates. Although the medical staff will not take risks with him, but he seems to have a chance to do this.
It would be the sixth time that a Real Madrid player was recovered from injury in advance, and it would be little surprise: the club policy dictates that they give longer than average recovery periods to give their players enough time to come back.
Ceballos would certainly offer Carlo Ancelotti an option that he would otherwise not have. His ability to circulate the ball and to hold the line defensively with Aurelien Tchouameni has not been replicated by anyone else in the team so far. In one side that has had difficulty competing in midfield, Ceballos can be a difference for Los Blancos in the play.
