Israel Adesanya suffered a devastating loss on UFC 305 last August when he fought by Dricus du Plessis for the title of 185 pounds.

Nassourdine Imavov, on the other hand, earned himself a shot against the former champion after scoring three victories in a row.

Only a day out of their fight, Adesanya made fans delivered with a cryptic message online, where he referred to potentially missed weight, but luckily for the fans and Imavov he got on the scale on the scale of 185 pounds.

Now 35 years old and after the back of two losses, this was a hugely important fight for 'The Last Stylebender' who hoped to stay in the middle weight in the diagram.

Round one started as the majority of fans expected, because both hunters looked to feel each other and reach them before they let their combinations flow.

Despite that, in round two, 'the Russian sniper' showed why he was one of the most talented hunters in the division when he supported Adesanya against the cage and landed a huge right hand.

The former middleweight champion fell on his knees and Imavov succeeded with a huge kick -uppercut, while the Nigerian had his back to the cage that then dropped him on his stomach.

Imavov quickly followed some land and pounds while Adesanya seemed to be recovering, but Marc Goddard stepped in and called the fight when Adesanya seemed to complain briefly.

This only marked the second time that Adesanya suffered a KO during his MMA career with the first coming in the hands of old rival, Alex Pereira.

“Just wow, Nassourdine Imavov. My congratulations. What a performance, “Khabib Nurmagomedov responded to X.

What is the next step for Nassourdine Imavov after victory over Adesanya?

After his enormous victory, Imavov called for a title shot against the winner of Du Plessis vs Sean Strickland on UFC 312.

Despite the 28-year-old in the hope that he has done enough to earn a middleweight title shot, Khamzat Chimaev is probably opposed to the winner of Du Plessis vs Strickland, which means that the Frenchman will have to wait.

Imavov will probably take the place of Adesanya at number two in the division and may wait for the next title shot after 'Borz'.
