Fight News will soon come for Umar Nurmagomedov.
Cousin of the legendary lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov, the #2-ranking UFC Bantamweight-Medeeding, was just short of the world title in his fight against champion Merab Dvalishvili on UFC 311 in January.
The unbeaten Nurmagomedov gave Dvalishvili one of the most difficult challenges of his career and won the first two rounds of their title fight. However, as the cardio machine he is, DvalishHvili was able to catch up with Nurmagomedov in the championship rounds and handed him his first pro loss through unanimous decision.
Now 18-1, Nurmagomedov will look to bounce back while Dvalishvili has explained what he should do for a possible rematch.

Khabib Nurmagomedov confirms that the next fight by Umar Nurmagomedov UFC Main Event is
In his Instagram, Khabib Nurmagomedov teased that the next fight of his cousin will be in a UFC headliner.
“Main fight of the evening,” Nurmagomedov tagged Umar on his Instagram story on Friday.
“5 rounds …
“It's time to come back JR,” added the retired champion.
That would be three right most important events for Nurmagomedov, who went 10 rounds with the next Bantamweight title fight between Dvalishvili and Cory Sandhagen.
Who will then fight Umar Nurmagomedov?
There are a few fights that would be logical for Nurmagomedov in this phase of his career.
Nurmagomedov was able to come from a title fight loss and may be possible to link to #5-ranged competitor Song Yadong. There were conversations about Nurmagomedov -Vecht song for Dvalishvili, but the UFC eventually went a different direction.
Song has one of the best removal of the Takedown in the Bantam weight division, making it an interesting style matchup for Nurmagomedov.
The #8-ranging Mario Bautista can soon also close a top 5 fight, because he has defeated the will of former champions Jose Aldo and Patchy Mix.
Time will learn against whom Nurmagomedov will return.
