Khamzat Chimaev misses out on #1 spot as legend who discovered him ranks the top 3 UFC boogeymen

Khamzat Chimaev has built up a Boogeyman reputation during his 14-0 MMA career.

The dreaded Russian hunter recorded his way to a central weight shot on UFC 319 on Saturday evening.

Khamzat Chimaev showed how dangerous he is by destroying the teeth of Robert Whittaker with a coded choke on UFC 308 in October 2024.

UFC legend Brian Stann, however, believes that another hunter is currently the largest Boogeyman in MMA.

Brian Stann's Top 3 UFC Boogeymen

Brian Stann has returned from a dismissal of eight years to this weekend at Du Plessis vs. Chimaev to work.

The Fan's favorite commentator was asked to call his top three 'UFC Boogeymen' during the UFC 319-weighing show.

'The All-American' called shockingly lightweight champion Ilia Topuria as the largest bogeyman in the UFC.

“Topuria is number one on my list,” said Stann. “The crazy thing is, as rich as he is, as successful as he is, he still appears really focused and really hungry.

“Secondly, on my list is Khamzat. You can't have this list without him. Count nothing is it number one in a few of your lists.

“Finally, Tom Aspinall. How can he not stand on that list? Nobody wants to fight him. He has been waiting for a while now. He is definitely the heavyweight Boogeyman.”

Brian Stann predicted the rise of Khamzat Chimaev in 2017

Chimaev's turnout to UFC Superstardom was predicted by Stann three years before his debut.

During a Q&A with fans prior to the UFC Fight Night: Auckland in 2017, Stann was asked if he knew from emerging hunters who deserved to compete in the most important promotion of MMA.

The former medprocator of the middleweight, who retired three years earlier, started talking about a prospect in Sweden about which he had heard scary stories.

“There is a good weight in Sweden, in Sweden MMA All-Stars, who trains Alexander Gustafsson,” said Stann.

“I don't know his name. I just know him through reputation,” said Stann.

“He is not yet in the UFC, but he is very successful with all the big names from MMA All-Stars in Stockholm.

“If we get this boy, I think he will make some real waves.”
