Khamzat Chimaev is open to chasing more gold in multiple weights, but there is a decisive factor that will determine where he will first go.
Chimaev reached his first mountain top in the UFC earlier this month, when he led the first visit of the promotion to Chicago since Pre-Pandemic.
In the main event of UFC 319, Chimaev Dricaev Du Plessis dominated for five rounds to put the impressive government of the South African to an end to his third defense.
While 'Borz' celebrates his title crown in the days that follow, it will not be long before the focus focuses on his first challenge of a top candidate. And after just a constant stay in the middleweight throne, Chimaev has not yet been done with trophy hunt.
Khamzat Chimaev will chase the second UFC title wherever the money is
Chimaev has courageously demonstrated as a three-division glory, because he seems to be the first hunter in the history of UFC that becomes a triple champion.
Before he gets that chance, the Chechenster must first add a second title to his resume. And there is some uncertainty about what weight could be.
After the weight of Chimaev before UFC 279 in 2022, many have written off every chance that 'Borz' will return to the welter weight. But 'Borz' himself left the door open, which called that and slightly heavyweight as divisions in which he can still claim gold.
In terms of which belt he will focus afterwards, Chimaev said during ESPN's UFC 319 Post Show that he will go where Dana White wants – and where the biggest cash is.
“I don't care (what weight),” said Chimaev.
Whatever Dana says, that's what we go for.
“Where is the money, that's what I go for. I love money more,” he added.
Islam Makhachev appealing potentic Khamzat Chimaev Fight
If Chimaev's strive for 'Champ-camp' status bring him back to 170 pounds, he can stand opposite a face that is known to him.
The newly crowned middleweight King has had a rocky relationship with the team of Khabib Nurmagomedov. Things were heated when Chimaev argued with the cousin of Nurmagomedov, Abubakar, in the crowd at UFC 280 in October 2022.
Things seem to have been brought to bed in the following years and the Islam Makhakevet refused to go up again every Chimaev -when he was asked for a potential fight with him at an RB Sport press conference.
“I answer this question here. I don't want to open the door for a kind of conflict between our people,” said Makhachev.
“Well, we'll see. I have a heavy fight ahead,” he added.
First Makhachev must reach the Welterweight Throne by escaping Jack della Maddalena later this year in their expected fight.
