The middleweight rival of Khamzat Chimaev thinks that his UFC 319 version was so bad that the sport of mixed martial arts is in danger.
Chimaev came overly from last Saturday's pay-per-view Main Event, and the result was rarely in question during the one-sided fight.
Dricus Du Plessis was dominated by Chimaev for 25 minutes, while 'Borz' brought his middleweight title line and undefeated UFC -Run to an end.
A new era is underway on 185 pounds behind the back of Chimaev's record -breaking show of dominance, but not everyone has responded with praise. And one of the greatest rivals of the Chechen star made a dramatic assessment of the impact that the style of the new champion could have.

The words Chimaev and “boring” have not come in hand at all since the 31-year-old arrived in the UFC. The unbeaten phenomenon has consistently torn through his opposition, the most recently when Chimaev Robert Whittaker submitted violent in one round to secure his title shot.
But UFC 319 was another story, because 'Borz' yielded more than 21 minutes of control time, while he rarely penetrated a finish during the five -round headliner in United Center.
The strategy of Chimaev against Du Plessis has been criticized by some, but not many have gone so far the old enemy of the champion, Paulo Costa, with their reactions.
During an appearance on the Ariel Helwani show, the Brazilian courageous that Chimaev MMA could 'kill' if he repeated the way he won on August 16.
“This is a show. This is entertainment,” said Costa. “This kind of fighting, and hunter, has a lot of potential to kill this company.
“This surprised me afterwards, because during the press conference after the fight, Dana (White) (said) was:” Ok, he did great. ” No, he didn't, man.
“He did it terribly. This is terrible for the watchers,” Costa continued. “This is not good. People will look at something else. They won't see these guys cuddling for 25 minutes.”

If he deserves a chance with the newly crowned champion along the line, 'Borrachinha' says that he will offer much more resistance than Du Plessis in Chicago.
Costa does not think that Chimaev can hold him, a prediction that the Brazilian hunter supported by referring to his successful anti-wrestling representation against Yoel Romero in 2019.
“He dominated Dricus, but he could not do the same thing he used to do against good weights,” Costa told Helwani. “Like, maul the boys, finish the boys.
“If he is confronted with a real middleweight, a really heavy middleweight, he will have some problems.
“I know how to deal with these guys,” Costa continued. “Do you remember your fight against Romero? Romero is a high -level wrestler and also very good. He couldn't put me down. He tried four or five times.
“If I fight against Khamzat, the same will happen. He couldn't stop me. Even if he brought me down. I don't think I am standing up against him all the time. I think he can put me down, but he won't keep me there.”
