Kimmich ‘set contract deadline’ by Bayern Munich amid interest from Arsenal

Bayern Munich reportedly said Joshua Kimmich that he should return to the table quickly if he has to have a chance to sign a new contract in the Allianz Arena.

The 30-year-old captain of Germany has been a Bayern player for a decade, after he joined the Bavarian giants of RB Leipzig in the summer of 2015.

He has played more than 400 games for Bayern and won 20 trophies, including eight Bundesliga titles.

But his Stellar Stint in Munich could end after the end of the current season, because his contract ends on 30 June.

Bayern had offered Kimmich a new deal, but it is clear that the proposal has since been withdrawn after the player's hesitant answer.

According to Bild, Bayern will not increase their previous offer and only willing to put the original deal back on the table on one condition.

In order to revive the hope of a possible agreement, Kimmich apparently has to approach Bayern bosses for the Champions League round on Wednesday from 16 first leg against Bayer Leverkusen and declare his dedication to his current club.

Bayern would have offered Kimmich an extension that would have seen his existing salary the same.

The player was reportedly prepared to accept that part of the deal, but his demands on a signing bonus were not to the taste of the club.

If Kimmich does not sign a new deal with Bayern, he will probably have many alternative options this summer, including a possible move to Arsenal.

According to Sky in Germany, Arsenal was brought in and discussions have been held about the acquisition of the midfielder on a free transfer.

The Gunners are said to have a concrete interest in Kimmich and that it is supposed to be partly responsible for his reluctance to bind to Bayern.

Kimmich would be seen as a replacement for Jorginho, where the Italian set to leave the Emirates Stadium after the end of his contract ends at the end of June.

It was previously emerging that Runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool had also shown interest in Kimmich, where Arne Slot wanted to strengthen his midfield.

Kimmich reportedly informed Bayern about the offers he has on the table.
