Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said he would organize a party on the island of Mallorca if the Premier League stripped Manchester City of their titles due to the investigation into their 115 charges.
Liverpool finished second to Pep Guardiola's all-conquering Manchester City under Klopp in 2018/19 and 2021/22, while also winning the 2019/20 title.
Since that period of dominance, City was referred to an independent commission by the Premier League in 2023 after being accused of breaching financial rules 115 times between 2009 and 2018.
Although the club has always maintained its innocence, there is plenty of speculation about how they could be punished if the independent commission were to find them guilty. Everything from relegation, heavy fines and retroactive stripping of their titles have been offered as possible outcomes.
In his first public appearance since becoming Red Bull's head of global football, Klopp suggested he would shed no tears if the Premier League took away their titles.
“We had this discussion when I left,” he said. “I haven't spent much time in Mallorca because I'm always flying around. But if it happened, I told all the people who wanted to [come]: 'Just book a flight to Mallorca. I'll buy the beer!' We would have our own parade in my garden.”

The 57-year-old also fired a shot at the revamped FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off this summer. Klopp was not a fan of the tournament, suggesting it would be damaging to football.
“I think it's useless. It doesn't help if you don't have a summer vacation,” he said.
“Whoever wins the tournament will be the poorest winner of all time, because he has to play all summer and then the competition starts again. We now have a lot of injuries in European football.”
“We have to reduce the number of matches. That means it would be better in some competitions [if] you have 18 instead of 20. That means you don't add matches in other competitions.”
