Justin Kluivert expressed his delight at overtaking his legendary father's scoring record at St James' Park after scoring a hat-trick in Bournemouth's shock 4-1 win over Newcastle.
The Dutchman produced another electric performance as he returned to the Cherries starting XI, scoring three brilliant goals with his final effort a poor shot from distance.
Kluivert's mesmerizing dribbling and creativity made it a nightmare afternoon for Newcastle's defenders, who were helpless to prevent Bournemouth putting a devastating end to their nine-match winning streak.
His father, Patrick, previously played one season for Newcastle after joining on a free transfer in 2004 after leaving Barcelona and making 37 appearances for the club.
Kluivert Snr scored 13 goals during his short spell in the Premier League but found the back of the net just once at St James' Park, with his son overtaking that tally in dominant fashion on Saturday.
The unusual family affair sees the youngster take bragging rights and Kluivert Jr. revealed he will rave to his father about breaking his goalscoring record when they speak.
'Sure, sure [I’ll be winding him up]. It's wonderful to hear things like that,” Kluivert told TNT Sports.
'I just want to help my team win games and be important for the club. I am happy with the match ball and the victory for sure.
'This feels great, we know how tough it is to play here with the long win streak they had.
'[Newcastle] “We are a great team, but to come here with a lot of injuries and dominate like that is really a compliment to the team,” he added.
The 25-year-old was buoyed by Bournemouth's deserved win, which lifted them to sixth in the Premier League standings and level with Chelsea on 37 points.
It also extends the south coast's unbeaten streak to eleven games, with Bournemouth beating Spurs, Man United and Newcastle during that run.
Confidence within the club's ranks is sky-high and according to Kluivert the priority must now be qualifying for European football next season.
'I am an ambitious person, there are many ambitious players in the team. It has great recruitment, like those kind of players with a lot of ambition and I think you see that in the way we talk about, yeah,” he continued.
'We want to play in Europe, we want to be the best we can. And I think we're showing that, so why not? Why don't we dream big and let's see where we can end up.
'Who knows? The ball is always round as we say in the Netherlands, so you never know where we can go,” said the Cherries star.
