Kobbie Mainoo has reportedly told Manchester United that he wants to leave on loan this summer to look for regular playing time – but the club will not punish the move.
The 20-year-old made his first performance of the campaign in the gloomy Carabao Cup defeat of United by Grimsby on Wednesday evening and was told by Ruben Amorim that he is fighting Captain Bruno Fernandes for a place in midfield.
According to athletics, Mainoo United said that although he does not want to completely break the ties with his youth side, he wants a temporary move.
In response, United told the Academy graduated that they will not punish the deal, and that they expect it to stay and compete for a place in Ruben Amorim's XI.
