Kobbie Mainoo was seen as a star of the future for Manchester United after his breakthrough in 2023, but he has become excess to the requirements under Ruben Amorim and his future is uncertain
Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo could have few options on the table if he pursues an exit from Old Trafford according to reports.
Mainoo is one of the most exciting prospects that have come from the club's academy in recent years after his breakthrough under Erik ten Hag in the 2023-24 season.
But he is not kicking under his successor Ruben Amorim, who has preferred Casemiro in midfield and has dropped Mainoo for the first two Premier League matches of the season.
Fans have wondered why he fell out of favor of the Portuguese coach after he has chosen to remove Manuel Ugarte from the bank against Arsenal and Fulham, while Mainoo has been an unused replacement for both games.
It has now been speculated that Mainoo could leave the old Trafford in this transfer window after reports that the Boyhood United Star is open to pursue more playing time with another club.
It is a World Cup and Mainoo wants to set up a claim for a place in the English team of Thomas Tuchel, which started for England in the Euro 2024 final against Spain.
According to athletics, Mainoo is considering an exit from United while approaching the last two years of his contract, but the issue is that there are few options for him in the transfer market.
The deadline of the summer transfer is approaching on 1 September in less than a week, but there is not yet a concrete interest from other clubs or so far approaches.
When asked why Mainoo was currently outside of his plans, Amorim said that Bruno Fernandes was ahead of him in the pecking order and told the player to “fight for the position”.
“He is now fighting for the position with Bruno and I am changing two midfielders,” Amorim said after the 1-1 draw in Fulham.
“I left Mason Mount [play] There because we want to score a goal and when I changed, I felt that the team had to return to a midfielder near Bruno.
