Kompany defends Bayern Munich after UCL exit: We were decimated

Bayern Drew 2-2 on Inter on Wednesday evening, with the Nerazzurri who won the quarterfinals 4-3 in total.

Afterwards, Kompany praised their performance, while also emphasized their long injury list.

He said: “I think the big problem, before Inter, was injuries. We had to understand what we could do without ITO, Upamecano, Musiala, Neuer, Davies, Coman, Pavlovic. I think we have shown a good Bayern München in the first game in the first game: I'm not talking about the result.

“Everything started in the way we wanted, then there were two moments, and you have to recognize the properties of Inter, in which we should have done better.

“We have had many goal-scoring opportunities, more than inter. I have mixed feelings: the harsh reality is that we will not play the Champions League final at home.

“We can't change this. The other aspect is the implementation: we know that we have done enough to win these competitions.

“We are decimated”

Asked if the Bayern schedule contributed to their injury -Elexing, Kompany replied: “Unfortunately I do not decide. In addition to the many games, there are long journeys and the pressure increases when we have defects.

“This is our case, tonight we are decimated, in such an important phase of the competition. It is something that it deserves to be discussed and evaluated, I don't know what to add right now.”

Kompany insists that Bayern can leave the competition with heads that are kept high on circumstances.

He added: “As I said before: you are preparing for the meetings for the game, and the hardest thing to do this time was choosing the many opportunities we had in Munich, otherwise the video would have been too long. But we played with a great team, very well trained.
