Kompany hopeful on Kane fitness ahead of facing ‘dangerous’ Celtic

Vincent Kompany is hopeful Bayern Munich will have Harry Kane available for their Champions League play-off second leg collision with Celtic on Tuesday.

Kane was absent in the training prior to the game in the Allianz Arena, but Kompany was present to play the fear of a serious injury to the captain of England.

Bayern has a slim advantage in the draw, in which Daizzen Maeda scores to give Brendan Rodgers the hope of an upset in the second stage.

Michael Olise and Kane were on goal in Celtic Park, with the last his 29th goal from his 30 performances in all matches this season.

Kane ran into a face period in Bayern's match against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, a match that ended 0-0 and kept their eight-point lead on the top.

“It's nothing bad for Harry, but we have very little time to recover,” Kompany told reporters on Monday.

“Sometimes you need an extra day, but we will see how Harry feels tomorrow morning. I assume it's nothing bad.”

Bayern has won their last five house matches at home against Scottish opponents and never lost at home against a Scottish team (W7 D3).

Indeed, they are advanced from their last 13 Champions League-Knock-Out tires when they have won the first stage, last losing from Inter in 2010-11 after they have taken the advantage in the draw of the first game.

Bayern is also unbeaten in their last 20 home games in the Champions League (W16 D4), while they only had such a run in the competition once before – 29 games between March 1998 and April 2002.

But Kompany expects a difficult collision against Celtic, who has built up a 13-point lead at the top of Scottish premiership.

“Tomorrow will be an important game for us and the whole club. We are very strong at home,” said Kompany.

“I have seen many of the games of Celtic – they have done it very well in the Champions League so far and can always be dangerous.

“We won in Celtic Park and then got an important point in Leverkusen. It is a good opportunity to do something good again in these six days, who were very busy.

“If the results are good, you have that little bit of extra power, and that should help us tomorrow.”

Bayern has passed a difficult collision against Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen on Saturday, with the defensive Bundesliga champions perhaps a pity not to win the game.

The Side of Kompany collected an expected goals (XG) in total only 0.05 to Leverkusen's 2.16, with Bayern limited to just two efforts about the goal of Lukas Hradecky.

“We have never experienced anything like what happened to Leverkusen, where we had to defend so much. It was a good experience – something like that had to happen at one point. We can take that to the upcoming games,” Midfielder Jamal said Musiala.

“The mood in the team is positive. We didn't have our best day in Leverkusen – and still not lost, which is a good sign for the whole team. There is a lot that we can do better, but the team spirit, the ability to To fight, to keep a clean leaf, is something we need if we want to go far.

“It will not be a simple game (against Celtic). We have seen what it was like in Glasgow. We have to prepare well, ensure that we are fresh and mentally ready. We have to play at 100%, do not get up and start strong immediately – And we hope we win: “Musiala added.
