Kovac fumes Club World Cup pitches are ‘more of a GOLF GREEN’

Borussia Dortmund manager Niko Kovac suggested that the World Cup row heights of the club look like a golf green because they would be good for practicing your well, but less for playing football matches.

Dortmund lost 3-2 to Real Madrid on Saturday at the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey, where both the semi-final and the final of this tournament are played.

Real will come across Paris Saint-Germain in one of that semi-final, while Chelsea will meet Fluminense. The 2026 World Cup final will also be held here in this stadium.

After it was confirmed that his party had left this competition, Kovac said: 'This pitch and with the pitches we played on in Cincinnati and also in Atlanta, the grass quality is different in the stadiums.

“It's more a golf green. You can put Putting here. It is very short. This is not the grass we are used to playing in the Bundesliga and also the other stadiums.

'As you saw, the water was not good enough, I would say, because you have no license for that. For high-speed football you need good conditions and you also need a good pitch, the right pitch. If it is too dry, it's incredible, it's sticky, I can't explain it.

“I would like you to test it and then you will see what it is like.”

Now from the World Cup Club, Kovac also suggested that the kick -off times could be selected more wisely.

'We played twice in Cincinnati – the first time it was 12 hours, the second time, 3 p.m. On the field we had temperatures of approximately 45 degrees. If you go outside and the temperature is 45 degrees, this is very difficult. Today we had 35 degrees, which is not much better.

“But ok, this is the tournament we have to play. My suggestion is that the kick -off times should be a little later. As a spectator you would like to see intensive, aggressive, up and down football. If it's too hot, it's hard to play this kind of football. '

In the meantime, tickets for the first semifinal, which are played between Chelsea and Fluminense, were set at more than £ 300 per person. On Friday the asking price fell to £ 32.66 and on Saturday it became £ 9.81.
