WANTAWAY chief executive Kyle Walker is set for a sensational move to Inter Milan, SunSport can reveal.
The 34-year-old Manchester City star dramatically asked to leave the club for a move abroad.
And SunSport now understands Inter Milan are leading the hunt for the England right-back.
Representatives of the player have been in contact with the Serie A giants and a deal is being finalized.
Walker's desire to leave the Etihad was announced by boss Pep Guardiola following their 8-0 defeat to Salford in the FA Cup.
Pep revealed he was left out of the third round thrashing after informing the club of his wish to leave.
A source said: “Things are moving quickly but the deal is on the table and work is being done.
“A move to Inter Milan will give Kyle the chance to start again.
“His off-field problems are well documented and he needs space to reset.
“He simply can't get that in the Premier League.
“The club and its agent are in contact with Inter Milan and it is expected that this deal can be completed quickly.”
Walker is desperate to get 100 caps for the Three Lions and currently has 93.
He would have to fly for the World Cup next year to become the first black footballer to get a century of caps.
The source added: “He hasn't given up on that dream.
“That's why Saudi Arabia has always been a non-starter. Kyle is a fierce competitor.
“He wants to leave a legacy at the end of his career.”
Walker went to football director Txiki Begiristain on Thursday to seek a move away from the Etihad.
Guardiola said: “Two days ago, Kyle asked to explore the possibility of playing abroad.
“He asked about the Treble, when Bayern Munich wanted him, but the offer was not good enough.
“I prefer to play against players whose spirit is here. Kyle asked to explore, but that doesn't mean it's going to happen because you never know.
“We cannot understand the success the club had these years without Kyle. It is impossible.
“He's been our right-back and given us something we didn't have. He's been great.
“But now, for many reasons, he would like to explore going to another country to play out his final years.”
Asked whether Walker would grant his wish if he said he wanted to leave, Guardiola said: “Of course. I am convinced that there is no one in our position who does not want to be here, who can perform and be exactly what he wants .” wants to be.”
Walker has won 17 major honors with City since his £50million move from Tottenham in 2017.
His accolades include six Prem titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups and the Champions League.
