Kyle Walker risks wrath of Pep Guardiola with prediction after leaving Man City

Kyle Walker focuses on more Champions League glory with AC Milan after closing the book about his career in Manchester City.

Earlier this month it emerged that the veteran – right back wanted to explore the possibility of moving abroad, and a deal that brought him to Milan – initially on loan – was demolished at the end of last week. The Italian giants have the option to sign Walker, 34, permanently at the end of the season for about £ 4.2 million.

Walker enjoyed a shimmering career at City, where he won countless Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2023. He has now set his sights on another European title – although his old club is still in the competition.

Thinking about his move, Walker said on Monday: “Of course I spoke with Zlatan (Ibrahimovic), he explained many different things, he told me about the great things we are trying to achieve here.

“We spoke about the Super Cup, which was a good start. It is not perfect in terms of the competition, but there is still a chance in the Champions League. I hope to contribute to my experience and leadership and to help Milan to return to where it wants to be.

“Winning the Champions League would be a dream come true: I experienced it in a great final with the city.”

Walker came close to the city in 2023 when Bayern Munich came to call. And it was Pep Guardiola who revealed that his captain would in fact go shortly before Milan approached the Premier League champions about a deal. The 93-Cap England star has now thrown some light on their conversation and admitted that it was a difficult one to have.

He explained: “When I spoke with Pep, it was not a very comfortable conversation because of the respect we both have done and what we have achieved in Manchester City.

“Everything he won in Manchester City, I also won. I would like to think he knows what I am bringing to the dressing room and the atmosphere that I make.

“I am here to play football. I am here to work with my teammates. But in Manchester City it was my family, from the chefs to the cleaner to the kitman to the physios. “
