Kylian Mbappe scored an acrobatic scissors kick to set up a Club World Cup semi-final confrontation with his old employers Paris Saint-Germain and dedicated his celebration to the late Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva.
Mbappe, who recently returned from acute gastroenteritis, was introduced in the 67th minute as a replacement after Xabi Alonso again chose to start one of Real Madrid in Gonzalo Garcia.
Real already led 2-0 when Mbappe was introduced, but Borussia Dortmund got a goal back in the stop time by Maximilian Bavier and that started a hectic final in the Metlife Stadium.
Mbappe's volley of Arda Guler's Cross – and tribute to Jota when making number 20 with his fingers to the cameras – followed because it really seemed to continue sailing.
Although we all watched the repetitions on the big screen, Dortmund got a penalty and Real received a straight red card. Dean Huijsen had withdrawn Serhou Guirassy when he was on goal. Guirassy stepped up and scored to bring 3-2.
Seconds later, Thibaut Courtois prevented this match from going to rescue the club World Cup, so Marcel Sabitzer was denied a remarkable stop while he dived on his right side in the 10th minute of the stopping time.
With PSG Die Bayern Munich defeated earlier in the day, we will now see a semi-final between the 2025 Champions League winners versus Real, the 15-way conquerors of that European competition. Chelsea is confronted with Fluminense in the other semi.
This was just Mbappe's second performance of the Club World Cup, which had also been a replacement versus Juventus in the last 16. In his absence, and that of Endrick, Gonzalo Garcia has been performed and something.
The 21-year-old in Madrid born attacker-naturally linked to Chelsea scoring his fourth goal in five games in the United States to lead Real about Dortmund here. It was also so simple because he found the space he needed to tap Guler's cross.
When he scored, he took himself to the top of the Golden Boot-Leaderboard, level with Angel di Maria by Benfica and Marcos Leonardo van Al-Hilal. This follows the scoring of 25 goals in 36 games for Real Madrid Castilla – their reserve side – last season alongside the strange senior performance. The crowd of the Metlife Stadium was 90 percent to support Real and they became wild on their side and took the lead in the 10th minute.
It was 2-0 after 20 minutes when Trent Alexander-Arnold Onderde and sprinted backwards. His cross avoided every man in yellow in the box while it dripped to the upcoming Fran Garcia, who scored from eight meters.
There was really Jude Bellingham, but no Jowe for Dortmund, because of the younger brother who was suspended. The older brother or sister really had to add a third after a beautiful dummy by Vinicius Junior left him with only Dortmund -goalkeeper Gregor Kobel to defeat, but he dragged his weaker foot wide.
Just like Bellingham, Vinicius then wasted his own chance to make three when Real was launched in a lightning counterattack from a Dortmund corner. Kobel was still back to his box when Vinicius tried, but was unable to perform in a lob. Really, he should have scored.
In the 62nd minute, Aurelien Tchouameni curled one from 25 meters. Kobel was rooted and then grateful when the ball collapsed from his bar.
Mbappe was introduced after 67 minutes – to a loud ovation of the 76,611 supporters present – next to Luka Modric and Dani Ceballos. Vinicius, Bellingham and Alexander-Arnold were replaced in that triple replacement.
In the midst of five minutes of stopping time, Dortmund got a goal back from the Beers' strike. Moments later, Real recovered from two goals with Mbappe who scored scissors-kick on the rear pole of Guler's Cross.
Immediately from the restart, Dortmund received a penalty when Huijsen polluted Guirassy, who converted to make it 3-2 if Real were reduced to 10 men.
At the end, Courtois produced an amazing rescue and denied Sabitzer with remarkable reactions. After a breathless finish, it is really who is confronted with PSG in the semi -final.
