Real Madrid managed to go without Kylian Mbappe for their 1-0 win over Real Sociedad on Wednesday, but his presence was still missed. The 26-year-old was absent in the MatchDay team that traveled to San Sebastian earlier in the week after dental surgery made him overlooked by head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti did not take any chances with Mbappe, who still had pain by the time that the match came from Wednesday to Wednesday. It was his replacement Endrick Felipe who scored the only goal of the game in the Reale Arena, but the Brazilian teenager could find it difficult to keep his place in the starting line-up.
That's because Mbappe will be back in action for Real Madrid for this weekend's trip to Real Betis. According to Diario, he returned to the training on Thursday, and after obtaining medical examinations he received the green light that must be included in the MatchDay team for the Benito Villamarin.
The return of Mbappe comes as very good news for Real Madrid, who are seriously affected by the confirmation that Dani Ceballos sustained a worrying knee injury during the victory over La Real – he is expected to be out of operation for at least two months, which means that he will not be available for the vast majority of the season.
There are also doubts about Federico Valverde's involvement for this weekend to Betis. Reports have suggested that the Uruguayan midfielder will not be able to travel to Andalusia on Saturday because of Spierongemak, and this could also miss him against Atletico Madrid in the first stage of their Champions League round of 16 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu next week.
