Kylian Mbappe has aimed to set the record straight by leaving Paris Saint-Germain for Real Madrid in 2024.
Mbappe completed a long-term free transfer to Madrid after infamously opting out of a move in 2022.
The France captain remained steadfast in his promise to join Los Blancos and was eventually released from his contract.
The final weeks of his PSG career were shrouded in controversy amid reports of a rift in his relationship with the team, Luis Enrique and club ownership.
Despite Mbappe leaving the club as all-time top scorer, with 256 in all competitions and six Ligue 1 titles, he fell short of his target of a UEFA Champions League crown in Paris.
Amid rumors that the owner lost patience with him at the end of last season, Mbappe claims the opposite was true but regrets the way things ended with the PSG fans.
“PSG is an 'intense' place, for better or for worse. At PSG I had problems with certain people because I fought for my rights,” said an interview with Canal TV.
'The Emir [Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani] told me 'they look at us and think I'm making you an offer to stay, but no, pursue your dream, thank you for everything, if you ever need anything I'm here.
“My relationship with the Emir has always been great. It's not Kylian versus Qatar, as people say.
“But I should have shown my love better to the PSG fans, my problems were never with them.”
Real Madrid are not paired with PSG in the opening stages of the Champions League this season and both teams face a battle to reach the knockouts in 2025.
