Kylian Mbappé’s barren spell continues

Despite his critics, Kylian Mbappé (26) has been productive for Real Madrid in his debut season and scored 31 goals for Los Blancos in all competitions. However, when he returned to the French side, he could not replicate that form of goal. He has not had that for quite some time.

Mbappé was absent from the last two international breaks. After a “difficult”, in the words of the Real Madrid Forward, September International Break, he was omitted in October and November by Didier Deschamps. The French manager insisted that it was the best decision for all parties, albeit a suboptimal, given the status of Mbappé as a captain.

In recent times, however, Mbappé has struggled in Bleu. He again pulled a blank, in Split on Thursday evening, when France lost 2-0 to Croatia in the UEFA Nations League. It means that the former Paris Saint-Germain attacker did not score in one of his last six games for Les Bleus, while he only scored two in his last 13.
