Lisandro Martinez has thrown lightly on 'sorrow and helplessness' that he felt after tearing his ACL in a sincere update for supporters after surgery.
The Argentinian defender can be out for up to a year after collecting the injury during the 2-0 defeat of Manchester United by Crystal Palace earlier this month.
Mail Sport revealed this week that the 27-year-old Thursday would have an operation in London. Martinez has now updated supporters on his state and thanked his family, friends and teammates for their support.
'Today, after experiencing several stormy days in which I allowed myself to feel and accept my grief, helplessness, uncertainties, fears and a deep emotional imbalance, I am again connected to my essence and my values that help me things of A friendlier to see and more positive perspective, “he wrote on Instagram.
“I feel enormous gratitude for the incredible work and the support of Man United, Argentina Federation, my family, friends, teammates and everyone who took the time to send me a message of encouragement.”
'The operation went perfect! Now it's time to give everything, with heart and soul, in the rehabilitation process. '
Recovery periods can vary from anywhere between six months and a year. If Martinez responds well, he can get the chance to return to the fitness before the start of the following season.
A year ago he damaged the medial ligament in his right knee – but the injury did not require operation and he was back eight games later.
Martinez has seen his time in Old Trafford due to various injuries.
Since his relocation of £ 56.7 million in 2022 from Ajax, he has also had two operations on his foot and has appeared in 58 of the 100 Premier League matches.
The Red Devils were further startled on Saturday evening after the news of the seasonal injury to Amad Diallo.
As E -mailsport exclusively revealed on Saturday, Diallo was injured in the training this week and is still being assessed, but he is expected to be out for at least two months and this campaign cannot play again.
The news is another bitter blow for head coach Ruben Amorim who also lost Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer for the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after all three midfielders were injured this week in the training.
