The headline collisions in Spain nowadays attract a range of famous faces on the expensive seats and boxes. The Copa del Rey Semi-Final on Wednesday between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid was certainly exactly that. The cameras found a famous face in the crowd on Wednesday, but not the one they had expected.
While the cameras concentrated on the crowd for a reaction on Wednesday evening, they concentrated on one smiling fan – who was quickly recognized. On social media it was pointed out that the 'fan' in question was in fact Getafe goalkeeper Jiri Letacek. The 26-year-old grinned at the time, but the potential 'problem', at least for Getafe fans, the Atleticojaal was wrapped around his neck.
Speaking with Relo prior to Getafe's collision with Real Valladolid on Sunday, manager Jose Bordalas walked away from every controversy.
“Sometimes things are taken out of context. He has integrity and is dedicated to the club. We don't give it an interest and I didn't even speak to him. Something could have happened, from a fan or someone who accompanies him, has put the scarf on him. We are very happy with him; he is an incredible professional.”
It may not help that one of the five performances that Letacek made for Getafe against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey, as Los Rojiblancos Los Azulones destroyed 5-0 in the quarterfinals. So far, Letacek has only included in the Copa del Rey, after arriving from Banik Ostrava in his native country of the Czech Republic, for an amount of € 2 million.
The statement of Bordalas is an honest, and further, even if he was a fan of Atletico, it hardly seems like a problem. Among their team are a series of former Barcelona and Real Madrid players, of which there are also self-proclaimed fans.
