La Liga President explains how Real Madrid stopped refereeing reform despite complaints

Real Madrid has hardly criticized the criticism of the official in Spain last week. After 18 months of their TV channel that every referee who is in charge of their matches, Los Blancos radiated a bright statement on Monday evening -waiting for the reaction of La Liga President Javier Tebas was not long.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti said that the club demanded an explanation for an 'inexplicable' decision, but Real Madrid's letter complained to RFEF president Rafael Louzan about a corrupt system and claimed that they had missed trophies as a result of officer. They also demanded the firing of a number of officials. This is the week after Louzan also revealed that President Florentino Perez of Real Madrid had also put him under pressure about referee.

However, Tebas responded that although he was not surprised by their complaints, their actions did not rise. To Twitter/X, he explained the following.

“I was not surprised at all by the letter from Real Madrid, because it says nothing but what their television channel has repeated for a while.”

“Many of us argue for a radical change in the referee system, which come closer to the English or German model, with a completely different organization and much more transparency in all structural decisions of the Spanish arbitration.”

“What is really striking is that we discussed and even voted on this change during a Liga meeting on April 19, 2023, and Real Madrid opposed it, lukewarm and without proposing solutions. Could it have something to do with the fact that Rubiales was the president of the RFEF at that time and Florentino Perez was a member of the RFEF Council of Directors? And note that the 'Negreira' case was already in court and Real Madrid lasted weeks to participate. Why?”

“By the way, when it comes to” corrupt systems “, there are few lessons they can give. And I don't refer to Real Madrid as an institution.”

Real Madrid's complaints have not been alone, with Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and many more La Liga clubs that complain about the referee. However, the idea that Los Blancos is disadvantaged by the officials has not received much sympathy in Spain.
