La Liga rejects claims from Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti

Real Madrid achieved a very important victory over Villarreal on Saturday, but the club has been far from happy in the aftermath of this. In particular, there has been a lot of accident about the decision for the game to be played, given that Los Blancos was in Champions League action against Atletico Madrid only three days earlier.

After the game in La Ceramica, Real Madrid -head coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed his anger and frustration with regard to the situation, and he claimed that the club had asked to move the game to let his players rest more after playing for 120 minutes on the Metropolitano on Wednesday.

However, these claims from Ancelotti have now been rejected by La Liga, who Marca has told that Real Madrid never asked to be moved their match against Villarreal.

This is not the first song that Real Madrid has stopped heads with authorities, but La Liga is clear that they have gone little wrong according to their guidelines, and also the rules of the Spanish football federation.

Ancelotti stated that he would threaten to draw his Real Madrid from the La Liga match if his scenario was repeated in the future, but for now this season is not expected. Their Champions League quarter final draw against Arsenal is one of the “long” tires planned by UEFA, which means that there is an eight-day gap between the two legs, while Barcelona's match-up against Borussia Dortmund has only six days and as a result they will deal with the same situation as Real Madrid.
