Atletico Madrid saw their 15-match winning streak come to an end with a shock La Liga defeat to Leganes in Saturday's action.
Los Rojiblancos missed the chance to extend their title lead when they fouled their Madrid neighbors as Sevilla grabbed a late win in Girona.
This is how Saturday's action went…
Girona 1-2 Sevilla
Sevilla provided a major morale boost to Catalonia with their first win of 2025 thanks to Dodi Lukebakio's late finish.
The visitors started brightly at the Estadi Montilivi, with Isaac Romero denied from the penalty spot before Arnau Martinez nodded ahead to Girona against the run of play.
However, the away side rallied after the restart as Saul Niguez coolly fired home his first goal for the club to take things to the next level.
With the match hanging in the balance in the closing stages, Lukebakio provided the tip-off for Sevilla as he crashed home brilliantly from close range.
Leganes 1-0 Atletico Madrid
In the afternoon match in the capital, the visitors ended up on the wrong end of a tough derby as they missed numerous opportunities.
Matija Nastasic punished the away side's lack of lead shortly after the restart when he fired home from a corner.
The leaders then had the chance to at least come away with one point, but Antoine Griezmann hit his penalty wide of the post after ninety minutes.
Real Betis 1-3 Alaves
In Andalusia, Alaves gave their hopes of avoiding relegation a surprise boost with a first win in more than two months against 10-man Real Betis.
Kike Garcia got the ball rolling for the visitors with an early penalty before Jesus Rodriguez netted a brilliant equalizer.
However, Romain Perraud's red card in the second half turned the game on its head and Garcia took control as two tidy finishes secured all three points and a hat-trick for the experienced forward.
