MD22 of the LA Liga season 2024-25 continued on Saturday with four more games, involving Atletico Madrid, Villarreal and Seville. The competitions that took place were party in the title race, European Hunt and the relegation battle, and this caused very interesting viewing.
Atletico Madrid 2-0 Mallorca
After back-to-back Winless matches against Leganes (1-0 defeat) and Villarreal (1-1 draw), Atletico Madrid returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Mallorca in the Metropolitano. After a slow start, the hosts grew in the procedure and they took the lead 26 minutes after Giuliano Simeone played in Samuel Lino, who made no mistake from the penalty area.
Mallorca insisted on a winner in the second half, but instead it was Athleti that secured the result in the stopping time, because replacement Antoine Griezmann ended well after he was set up by Rodrigo Riquelme.
Villarreal 5-1 Real Valladolid
It was a game of two halves for Villarreal in La Ceramica, because they sent Real Valladolid 5-1 to obtain extensive home wins back-to-back, after 4-0 success against Mallorca two weeks ago. It took until the final phase of the first period for the hosts to open the score, which they did with thanks to ayoze Perez.
In the second half, the side of Marcelino Garcia Toral took control as they scored four times without an answer. Pape Gueye brought the score to 2-0 before Santi Comesana, Thierno Barry and Denis Suarez added to the score. Valladolid, however, achieved a consolation in a stopping time thanks to Selim Amallah.
Getafe 0-0 Sevilla
Getafe and Seville could not be separated in their lunch -meeting, although both parties had great opportunities to take the three points home. Juanmi, who made his debut after he had signed Real Betis earlier in the week, was refused by Orjan Nyland, while Dodi Lucekouwio completely missed the target with his effort.
