Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia has dropped his clearest hint, but that he still expects to continue this summer.
The former Spain U21 International will be strongly connected to the Premier League in the coming months after an excellent campaign in Catalonia.
Garcia played a crucial role throughout the season and his side has protected their survival from La Liga by relegation after a last day victory over Las Palmas.
Safety assured means that the pressure is released on the position of Garcia as his release clause of € 25 million becomes active.
The 24-year-old offered a clear update after the victory of Las Palmas and he is expected to make a future decision in the coming weeks.
The club remains determined to secure its full release costs, but Garcia admitted that he can walk away with his head.
“Everyone knows a bit about the situation in which I find myself and the situation in which the club is located. Whatever happens, when I leave, I will be proud to still leave the team in La Liga,” according to reports from Relo.
“I hope that my family with a team can keep coming at the top of the stadium and I hope this will continue for many years.”
Arsenal's rumors of € 12 million for Garcia was rejected by Espanyol last summer, but it is not clear whether the Gunners will make a different offer for him in 2025.
Newcastle United could also make an approach, but the current favorites are expected to be the Aston Villa of Unai Emery, possibly further with EMI Martinez.
The Garcia clause could also rise to € 30 million this summer if it is called up for the Spain service in the final series UEFA Nations League.
He won gold at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 and Luis de la Fuente scouted him several times this season.
