LAFC manager expresses disappointment in Giroud’s performances for the club

Olivier Giroud (38) played his last game for Los Angeles FC. The Frenchman will join Lille OSC with a free transfer after he has agreed to a mutual termination of contract with the MLS side. He leaves the US with a disappointing goal score record, at least that is according to his own manager.

When Giroud AC Milan left to become a member of Lafc last summer, it was not expected that he would return to play in Europe. After he had left the continent and had called the time on his international career, he was expected to see the rest of his playing days in the US.

However, the goals have not been streamed for the Frenchman in California. In 37 performances he only scored five goals. Speaking at the former Arsenal, Chelsea and Montpellier HSC's departure to Lille, Lafc manager Steve Cherundolo expressed disappointment in how the relocation turned out.

“We thank him for all his knowledge and experience he openly shared with Lafc and of course for his efforts on the field. He may not have done as much as we had expected when he arrived in terms of goals. We feel that he did not fully adapt to the way the team is playing and that he has performed better in a different system,” said Cherundolo in a press conference.
